| Can anyone tell me how the light bulb wires are supposed to be wired to which pins? My brother was supposed to put a decoder in and unwired everything. I finally took it back and found out you can get a plug and play. I figured out the motor and have it running but can't get the lights correct. Thanks! |

I have looked the two of mine over and they are the same, but (disclaimer here) your mileage may vary.
First, take a look at these;
http://www.tcsdcc.com/Customer_Content/Installation_Pictures/HO_Scale/Life_Like/Proto2000%20GP38-2/Proto2000%20GP38-2.html
http://www.bevteccom.co.uk/Rail/DCC/P2K_GP38-2.html
Now, having sent those links (hope they show as links) I'll post what I found:
P1 Both Black Trucks
P2 Black to headlight
P3 none
P4 White to number board lights
P5 Black to can motor
P6 Other side of white light board (looks like it goes to the front humber board light and is a black wire)
P7 White for headlights
P8 red trucks
Almost everywhere I have searched, I've found that the lights on this model are BAD. The connections in the factory were okay for DC but caused shorts in DCC.
So far, I have disconnected the headlight (number board) lights and the GP seems to work fine. I have an old DH163L0 as a decoder.
Does that help? |
